Athletics icon Allyson Felix has her sights set on competing at the 2028 Olympic Games in her hometown of Los Angeles at the age of 42.
The seven-time Olympic champion chose Aspire Academy as one of her preferred training venues for her comeback, which she announced in April, four years after retiring.
The USA’s most decorated track and field athlete, with 31 global medals to her name, said Aspire Academy provides the ideal environment to train as part of her journey back to full fitness.
“I've been coming here to Qatar for so many years, and I've always had such a warm welcome,” she said.
“I know about the incredible facilities that Aspire has, and it's literally the best place in the world to be able to train.”
“So, to be able to have it as part of my journey as I work myself back to full fitness and in this new phase of life, I knew I could have confidence in having everything I need here.”
The 100m, 200m and 400m runner explained what motivated her to make a comeback at 40 as she aims to compete in 2027 and ultimately at the Olympics a year later.
“It's really about curiosity. It's not about trying to be the athlete that I was, but more curious about what's still possible with my hometown hosting the Olympics,” the American told Aspire Academy.
“My goal is to make the team. I would love to be a part of a relay ideally.”
“It has a lot to do with showing my kids what's possible, pushing the limits. Not accepting the way society tells you things should be and challenging that."
The sprint legend, who has also won 20 World Championship medals, also offered advice to Aspire Academy’s student-athletes on staying motivated as they aim for success.
“Young athletes really need to understand that it's a long journey, and there's going to be ups and downs and challenges, but always keep your love for the sport,” she said.
“As long as you're enjoying it and having fun, continue to push yourself.”
“For me, it's all about challenging myself in new ways, and I get really excited about that.
“I love a big, ambitious goal to go after, and so I found a new one that keeps me going.”
By welcoming Allyson Felix as she works towards her Olympic comeback, Aspire Academy reinforces its reputation as a trusted destination for elite training and gives its student-athletes the chance to draw inspiration from one of the greatest figures in track and field.
