Aspire Academy swimmers delivered not only medals but also some outstanding performances at the recent Acropolis Open International Swimming Meet in Athens, Greece.

The event attracted over 700 swimmers from around the world and featured finals for under-18 swimmers as well as the senior ones.

Three of the four Aspire Academy swimmers reached under-18 finals, with two, Abdalla AlGamry and Aziz Ismail Mohamed Jelany, winning medals.

Abdalla AlGamry won gold in the 200m backstroke and silver in the shorter 100m race, while Aziz Jelany claimed gold and bronze in the 100m and 200m butterfly events.

Hamza Shalan reached the finals of the 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke events but was unable to get on the podium in any of the races.

There was also more valuable international experience for Ziad Morsy in Greece, as he competed in five events.

The results reflect the dedication of the four student-athletes and highlight the effectiveness of the sports science support provided by Aspire Academy's performance departments, including strength and conditioning, nutrition, physiology, and biochemistry.

Combined with expert coaching from the Qatar Swimming Federation (QSF), this collaboration continues to nurture and develop talented young swimmers.

Former European champion Yuriy Vlasov, works closely with all the Aspire Academy swimmers and travelled with the four student-athletes to Greece to oversee their preparations.
