DIRECTOR OF FOOTBALL PERFORMANCE AND SCIENCE VALTER DI SALVO TALKS AT WEB SUMMIT QATAR

Aspire Academy’s Director of Football Performance and Science Professor Valter Di Salvo was invited to take part in a panel at the recently concluded Web Summit Qatar 2024.

The four-day event attracted media personalities, industry experts, start-up companies and entrepreneurs from around the globe.

The summit’s organising committee said more than 15,000 visitors from 118 countries gathered for the event.

One of the panels at the summit was hosted by the Qatar Research Development and Innovation (QRDI) Council as they discussed Qatar’s Open Innovation Programme.

Joining Prof Valter Di Salvo on the panel were Hussain Mohammed, a chemical engineer with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, and Dr Abdelhak Belaidi the RDI Programme Manager at QRDI Council.

The Qatar Open Innovation was Developed and launched by the QRDI Council and offers a unique opportunity to develop breakthrough technologies and solutions for key sectors in Qatar.

Through the programme, innovators also gain access to new markets and obtain support in establishing their businesses in Qatar or forming official partnerships to help launch or expand their ventures.

Prof Valter Di Salvo highlighted the leading role that Aspire Academy plays in the use of innovation and technology in football in Qatar.

He pointed out that the Academy’s Football Performance Centre(FPC) is vital to the continued development of football in Qatar as it is used by not only Aspire but also the Qatar Football Association and the Qatar Stars League.

The FPC offers specialist coaches in areas such as strength and conditioning, fitness, physiology, biomechanics, nutrition and psychology access to relevant technology.

He held up Qatar’s recent triumph in the AFC Asian Cup as the perfect example of Aspire’s contribution to the growth of the country’s football.

As well as technology and innovation he talked about the importance of knowledge sharing and how the Aspire in the World Fellows brings together footballing organisations from around the globe to achieve that goal.
