Aspire Academy student-athlete Mohamed Noufal (pictured in the centre) has made a promising start to his athletics season with impressive triple-jump performances.

The 18-year-old, who competes for Al Arabi SC in Qatar, is currently on a training camp in South Africa with the Academy and is also taking part in local events.

On Tuesday he jumped 15.93 metres at the first Athletics Central North West Open Track & Field Meeting in Potchefstroom.

The leap was achieved into a headwind of 1.1m/s and is 43cm beyond the qualifying distance for the World Under-20 Athletics Championships.

It is the second time that Noufal has gone beyond the 15.50m qualifying distance in recent months having jumped 15.61m at the end of September during an event organised by Aspire Academy.
