A MESSAGE TO THE FACULTY FROM THE DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION AND STUDENT AFFAIRS

08 Jun 2020

I don’t think that any of us would have ever expected we would be ending a school year like we did it this year. The COVID-19 pandemic has challenged us, but it has also brought out the best in many people - people who have shown compassion and empathy and offered a helping hand to others during this extraordinary time.

I know that it has been a challenging few months, especially for you - the teachers of Aspire Academy - making sure that our students still have access to the best available education through distance learning, while juggling work, homelife and the worries of a pandemic.

The effort of the administration, the resident educators and the student affairs staff of Aspire Academy’s education department has been tremendous as they kept in touch with students and parents and thereby ensured the smooth transition to distance learning and fostered the relationship.

I have also been proud to see how much effort teachers and staff put into supporting our grade 12 students at their final high school exams and how exemplary all of you made sure of their safety and well-being when they were taking them at Aspire over the last couple of days.

What you are doing is truly remarkable, and we - the management of Aspire Academy - applaud you! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for working so hard to help our student-athletes to continue their education as best as possible given these circumstances. We know how much time and effort you’ve put into adapting to all of these changes, managing changes in your own personal lives, and still continuing to be exceptional academic and emotional supports.

I hope that we can come up stronger as individuals and as a faculty when the coronavirus settles. In the meantime, please stay safe and continue to seize every opportunity for your future in these difficult times.

Thank you again for your support and efforts during this time.

Badr Al-Hay
Director of Education and Student Affairs, Aspire Academy
