Class of 2009 Ready to Impress the Regional and International Sporting Stage
Thursday 11 June 2009 marked another momentous occasion in the short but prominent history of the ASPIRE Academy for Sports Excellence, as a class of 27 exceptional student-athletes graduated from one of the world’s leading combined sports and educational institutions. The moving ceremony led by Mohamed Bin Hammam, President of the Asian Football Confederation and FIFA Executive Committee member, celebrated the outstanding achievements of the Class of 2009. Amongst the 27 students were 15 football players, five athletes, two judo specialists, two table tennis players, one rower, one sailor and one golfer! It’s a fitting testimony to the success of the Academy that all 15 football players have already signed for professional Qatar-based football clubs.

In addition to being talented sportsmen, what distinguishes ASPIRE student-athletes from other preparatory and secondary students is their commitment to leadership and putting the core values of ASPIRE into action. They are asked to care as much about their teammates, classmates and young athletes following in their footsteps. They are challenged to do their best in the classroom and on the playing fields and courts. Some are already sports champions, some have already achieved academic honors, but every ASPIRE student-athlete is working to fulfil his potential. Meet our student-athletes…
