Prevention and Rehabilitation Commitment
Keeping ASPIRE student-athletes healthy requires an emphasis on conditioning and prevention; regular communication with coaches; early treatment of injuries; careful rehabilitation to avoid non-recurrence, and early identification of health issues, via comprehensive health screening. These are the key elements of ASPIRE’s health services program. Thus, the prevention and rehabilitation “team” at ASPIRE includes coaches, as well as health and nutrition personnel. Student-athlete care is everyone’s highest obligation.
Physiotherapists cover all training sessions, morning and afternoon. A medical presence is required during these times. Emergency cases follow a comprehensive emergency policy. The physiotherapist assigned to the team or squad participating in sports competition inside the Academy meets with student-athletes before the event to ensure appropriate medical prevention; and afterwards to manage injuries that occur during the game. Nurses manage the emergency evacuation of injured athletes in collaboration with the General Services-Procurement Unit, which ensures the presence of an emergency ambulance close to playing fields and facilities. The doctor and nursing staff are always available to deal with normal athlete illnesses.
A physiotherapist accompanies the team or squad to every sports competition and training camp outside the Academy, meeting with students from the Academy prior to departure to ensure appropriate medical prevention, and afterwards to manage injuries that occurred during the game.
