Developing Champions -- Our Long Term Sports Development Philosophy

The Academy is committed to a long-term and sound youth athlete development approach, based on the following commitments:

  • Providing the most extensive international competition and training camp experiences that will give student-athletes the highest quality competition and exposure to advanced sport cultures and their training and work ethics. We believe it is better to finish among the top ten in world competition, than it is to win a medal at a regional championship against athletes who do not qualify to be in the top 100 in the world.

  • Offering international scholarships to the best junior student-athletes in the world and the best non-Qatari junior student-athletes residing in Qatar, in order to elevate the daily training level at the Academy. Student-athletes must train every day with the highest quality teammates and opponents.

  • Acquiring and retaining the highest quality, internationally recognized coaches who are master teachers of sport, and deliver instruction in a respectful but highly-challenging environment.

  • Implementing a long-term, gradual development program, consistent with the student-athlete's physical development status, which demonstrates steady improvement of an individual student-athlete's performance against world-class competitors.

  • Providing post-Academy support for Academy graduates who are sports talents and who wish to continue their sporting development, because champions are not fully developed by the 12th grade.
