ASPIRE Academy
Departments and Programs
ASPIRE departments, programs and corporate service units create an organizational environment focused on the achievement of the Academy's mission and measurable objectives, the highest levels of student care and a culture of respect and collaboration. The success of ASPIRE Academy is directly attributable to its international staff of experts and highly-trained professionals in their respective fields, who are passionate about the Academy's purpose, committed to a strong work ethic and to the principles of accountability, excellence and transparency.
Sports Department
The Sports Department is responsible for the elite-level training and international competition programs for 200 ASPIRE Academy student-athletes in grades 7 through 12, who participate in a selection of sports in which Qatar national teams have the greatest opportunities for success. The Department is also responsible for developing a youth sports culture in Qatar and a pipeline of talent from which Academy student-athletes are selected. This purpose is accomplished through the conduct of Multisport and Sports Skill Development programs for 6 to 12 year old boys and 6 to 14 year old girls that introduce them to basic motor skills required for sports success, followed by more intense and sport specific programs as they develop. Sports Science Department
The Sports Science Department is responsible for providing state-of-the-art sports science support to coaches and student-athletes to improve training and enhance performance. Coaches are provided with data that enables them to design better training programs and analyze sports skills. Student-athletes are provided with video and other feedback data that enables them to better understand their performances and mechanics. The Sports Science Department is also responsible for health and medical services, nutrition education, strength and conditioning and research. Further education programs are also provided for Academy and federation coaches. Education and Student Care Department
Change first sentence to read: “ The ASPIRE boasts an education curriculum is designed for university preparation and aligned with SEC standards, that offers a foundational and advanced program to meet each individual student’s needs and his potential for academic success. An outstanding, full-time teaching staff, a strong, academic support program, and a library/resource center support student-athlete academic efforts. In addition, a comprehensive student-athlete care program with university educated Qatari mentors and career and educational counselors provides the highest level of supervision and support. The school is on-site and an integral part of the ASPIRE Dome sports complex, and has an attached dormitory. The academic program places great emphasis on English mastery as essential for university qualification. Corporate Services Department
With almost 400 employees working year around, 200 student-athletes engaged in international travel for competitions and training camps, and many teams from all over the world visiting ASPIRE to train and compete, ASPIRE Academy requires outstanding corporate services. A world-class Information Technology Services Section provides state-of-the-art computer and telecommunications support to employees and student-athletes. The Human Resources Services Section administers employee search, hiring, evaluation, professional development and reward and recognition programs. The Finance Services Section ensures that ASPIRE funds are spent responsibly, and accounted for, according to the highest independent auditing standards. The Marketing and Communications Services Section produces ASPIRE Magazine, maintains ASPIRE’s state-of-the-art website, works with the media to ensure coverage of all ASPIRE events, competitions and programs and supports all internal departments for the production of publications and internal events. A General Services Section is responsible for travel visas, procurement, scheduling of facilities, maintenance of the ASPIRE dormitory, mail services, catering and transportation.
ASPIRE ACTIVE Center
The ASPIRE Active program is a vibrant, community, recreational, physical activity and fitness exercise program that offers an enjoyable class for everyone in the family. The program is aimed at raising the awareness of the benefits of healthy exercise, sensible nutrition and intelligent lifestyle choices. An international team of certified fitness instructors deliver sports science-based expertise to produce invigorating and fun classes that increase the participants’ understanding of a pro-active and healthy lifestyle. Programs are provided for men, women, teenagers, children and toddlers, with a large variety of fitness classes available at convenient times. ASPIRE International Programs
ASPIRE has a world renowned program, ASPIRE Football Dreams, with NIKE and UNICEF as supporting sponsors, that reached 630,000 children in Asia, Africa and South and Central America in 2009. The program utilizes over 800 playing fields, involves 6,500 volunteers, provides over 13,000 balls, distributes 105,000 items of equipment and includes coaching instruction. This program is used to identify international football scholarship athletes. In Africa, ASPIRE Football Dreams is the selection process for students invited to attend ASPIRE Senegal, a football training center which also provides an educational program for children. Athletes from eleven African nations attend ASPIRE Senegal and teams from ASPIRE Senegal come to Doha to compete against ASPIRE Academy teams. Boys from the ASPIRE Football Dreams and ASPIRE Senegal programs have the opportunity to be considered for ASPIRE Academy scholarships in Doha.
