Aspire Zone (formerly known as Sports City Project) has grown significantly since its inception as an international sport destination in 2003. In 2006, the precinct was re-branded from Sport City to Aspire Zone and gained international recognition and acclaim as this fantastic sport complex was the centre of Qatar’s hosting of the 2006 Asian Games.
On 1st January 2008, the Aspire Zone Foundation (
www.aspirezone.qa) was established by Emiri decree and now comprises three strategic business units and a corporate office under the Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF).All the business units of AZF and the people working here have their individual role to play in realising the AZF Mission. These business units are:
1)ASPIRE Academy was established in September 2004 with the intake of the first 90 students to the Academy selected out of 8,000 children across the State of Qatar. The first generation of athlete-students graduated in 2008 and the Academy, and its groundbreaking programs, is now recognised as a leading elite sport institute in the world.
2)ASPETAR, Qatar’s Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine is the first of its kind advanced sports medicine facility in the Middle East ensuring that athletes can perform at their fullest potential. ASPETAR commenced operations in 2007 and in 2009 was recognised as a FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence.
3)Aspire LOGISTICS, is the third of the strategic business partner and it has grown out of the Sport City Project which was responsible for building the award winning sport stadia and facilities that make Aspire Zone such an awe-inspiring precinct. Aspire LOGISTICS is the custodian for Aspire Zone’s facilities and manages the venues and the international sport activities they attract.
