ASPIRE Sport-Specific Skill Development Programs
Children from the ASPIRE Multisport Skill Development Program, usually those who participate in the Advanced Multisport Program, may be invited to attend more sport-specific programs, where they specialize in one sport for an eight-week workshop or enter a year-round program in one sport. These sport-specific programs are of three types:
1. Sport Specific Workshops. Children from the Advanced Program may be invited to participate in an 8-week workshop in a sport in which they demonstrate skill and affinity. This workshop and all its activities are designed by the ASPIRE Academy head coach and delivered by ASPIRE Academy or sport federation coaches. Children selected for these workshops must still attend the Advanced Multisport Program trainings at least twice weekly. |

2. Sport Specific Skill Development Centers. Sport Specific SDC programs (i.e. ASPIRE Football Skill Development Center, ASPIRE Athletics Skill Development Center, etc.) are offered in each sport designated as a “main sport” at the ASPIRE Academy or offered by ASPIRE under a joint agreement with a national sport federation. Participants in this program are invited from among the MSDC Advanced Group (or from local club teams), based on having the highest skill levels and interest in focusing on a single sport. These programs are administered by the SSDP administrative staff. However, each Sport Specific SDC program is designed by the respective ASPIRE Academy Head Coach and delivered by certified coaches hired and serving as part of the ASPIRE Academy coaching staff for that sport. The curriculum focuses on basic skill development, basic strategies and tactics and sport-specific, as well as general, conditioning.
3. Sport Specific ASPIRE Academy Feeder Group. The highest skilled participants in each sport specific SDC program are invited to participate in that sport’s ASPIRE Academy Feeder Group, which is an age group program (e.g. ASPIRE Academy Football Feeder Group ‘98, ASPIRE Academy Football Feeder Group ‘99, etc.). Each ASPIRE Academy main sport has one to three Feeder Groups ranging from 9-to 11-year olds (U10, U11 and U12). Each Feeder Group has an assigned full-time ASPIRE Academy senior coach responsible for player development. Feeder Groups may also participate in training camps and competitions against foreign teams in their respective age groups. Nominees for admission to ASPIRE Academy are primarily selected from the U12- year-old Feeder Group.
