Military Sports Association Closing Ceremony at ASPIRE Dome.

Wednesday 12th August, 2009, Doha: Over the past 7 weeks the Military Youth Summer Camp has been taking place at ASPIRE Dome for its 3rd consecutive year. Up to 400 children have been working with ASPIRE’s dedicated sports trainers in football, swimming, handball, volleyball, athletics, basketball and taekwondo. To celebrate the end of the summer camp ASPIRE hosted an impressive closing ceremony at the ASPIRE Dome swimming pool, multipurpose hall and indoor athletics track. VIP’s, family and staff watched on as the children showed off their newly honed sports skills with a swimming and diving show, followed by a basketball demonstration and finally an athletics and taekwondo display. Awards were then presented to the best performing children. The closing ceremony was attended by the Qatari Armed Forces Chief of Staff HE Major General Hamad bin Ali Al-Attiyah, who received a gift from ASPIRE’s Dr. Rashid Jamaan Al Ali together with Mr. Ali Salem Afifa, they in return received a gift from the Qatar Military.
