ASPIRE’s Tennis Players Shine at Inaugural Military Open Tennis in Qatar
Wednesday 25 November 2009, Doha , Qatar: Last week (18th November) saw the final games of the first Qatar Military Open Tennis tournament staged by the Qatar Tennis Federation in association with the Qatar Armed Forces and sponsored by QNB. The event, which started on 5th November, began with 211 players, ranging in ages from 10 to over-45s, participating in over 355 matches.

Three of ASPIRE’s tennis players distinguished themselves at this tournament by successfully coming through their matches to triumph in the Under-18s and Under-14s category. Jaber Mohamed Nooh secured first place in the Under-18s boys’ singles with fellow students, Mubarak Shannan Zayed and Abdulrahman Ali Harib claiming first place and runner-up respectively in the Under-14s boys’ singles section.

Commenting on his win in the Under-18s category Jaber Nooh said: “I am really proud of this achievement and it has really encouraged me to go on and be more successful. Qatar Tennis Federation staged an excellent tournament and the level of competition was very tough. The preparation that ASPIRE gave me certainly ensured that I made it through successfully to the end.”

The tournament, held at the Khalifa Tennis and Squash Complex, hosted a broad range of categories from children of 10, 12, 14 and Under-18 competing in singles, doubles and mixed doubles matches as well as a competition for those aged over-45.
