Each new class of ASPIRE student-athletes is grouped by sport and by grade, with 8 to 18 athletes per group. Each student-athlete group is the responsibility of a Student Care Team, consisting of one teacher knowledgeable about the student-athlete’s classroom experience, his head coach, or the primary coach responsible for his sports training, and the Qatari Student-Athlete Administrator Team Leader, who is the Chair of the Student-Care Team and responsible for communication with his parents.

The Student Care Team meets on a weekly basis to discuss the progress of each student-athlete assigned to their care, and decides on appropriate interventions if necessary. Since these are the staff members who know the student-athlete best, this committee is also the first-level decision-maker in delivering wise, even-handed and consistent behavioral advice. The committee meets as a group, with parents, on the occasion of “open house” days, when parents come to the Academy to discuss the progress of students.

All members of the team should emphasize the value messages of the Academy: responsible and honorable behavior, good decision-making, the demonstration of leadership qualities and accountability for one’s actions. There must be a clear understanding of the difference between creating a “dependency” culture, in which student-athletes are pampered and expect privilege, and an environment that expects and applauds the development of independence and role model behavior.
